This workshop will include four expert keynote speakers. Dr. Cianciolo will open with a primer on the pathological approach to urinary tract diseases in NHP and other species, with a deeper dive into toxicological pathology and translational medicine with Dr. Farris discussing renal transplant pathology in NHP models, and Dr. Gonzalez discussing renal aging in a marmoset model. Dr. Lewis will round out the workshop with spontaneous and experimental diseases in non-human primates. Please note: Due to time limitations, this year’s primate workshop will not include afternoon case presentations.

This workshop provides a gentle introduction and first hands-on experience on the use of artificial intelligence for automated analysis of histological (primary focus) and cytological images. It is intended for pathologists with little prior experience. Subsequent to a general introduction into Machine Learning, an interactive step-by-step tutorial of developing a Machine Learning model (task of the model, creation of the dataset, training and testing the model) will be given for the relevant pattern recognition tasks (classification, regression, object detection, and segmentation).
