ACVP Affiliate Membership

ACVP Affiliate Membership

ACVP welcomes two affiliate member categories: Trainee Affiliate Members and Allied Professional Members.

Trainee Affiliate Membership

Individuals with a veterinary degree who are actively enrolled in a Veterinary Pathology training program and have not yet achieved ACVP-board certification can apply to become an ACVP Trainee Affiliate Member.

Trainee membership is attained by application, with submission of verification of program enrollment. Annual ACVP membership is good through June 30 (regardless of the date of payment during the membership year) and must be renewed annually. ACVP Trainee Affiliate membership dues are $50/year. Renewal payment may be made by logging into your ACVP MyPath account. 

Criteria:

  • Application requires proof of trainee status from training program coordinator, graduate supervisor, or department head.
  • Payment of annual dues is required to maintain Trainee membership and continued access to member benefits.
  • Maximum time for trainee membership is 7 years from start of pathology training (e.g. residency, internship, fellowship, or graduate program), exclusive of medical or parental leave.

ACVP Trainee Affiliate Membership Benefits

  • Direct communication of trainee-specific information from ACVP to trainees
  • Opportunity for trainees to build connections, collaborations, and networks through serving on committees (other than the Certification and Examination Council, Appeals, Nominating, and Finance)
  • Online access to six annual issues of Veterinary Pathology journal
  • Reduced ACVP Annual Meeting registration fees
  • Access to FREE educational webinars
  • Access to Members-Only section of website (includes webinar information, member directory, documents, salary surveys, and more)

Allied Professional Affiliate Members

Persons who are qualified, by virtue of training and/or experience, and are actively involved in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, molecular pathology and/or pathology informatics through administration, teaching, or research, or work in the biopharmaceutical industry, or are engaged as scientists or professionals in areas related to pathology, are eligible for election as Allied Professionals. Individuals must have, at a minimum, a specialized degree in one of the aforementioned disciplines from a recognized college or university, or relevant training and experience in pathology. ACVP Diplomates are ineligible for this category.

Allied Professional membership is attained by application and approval by the ACVP Board of Directors. Annual ACVP membership is good through June 30 (regardless of date of payment for the previous membership year) and must be renewed annually. ACVP Allied Professional Affiliate membership dues are $190/year. Payment may be made by logging into your ACVP MyPath account. 

Criteria:

  • Application requires a statement regarding applicants’ working relationship with the Veterinary Pathology community. Applications will be approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Payment of annual dues is required to maintain Allied Professional membership and continued access to member benefits.

ACVP Allied Professional Membership Benefits:

  • Direct communication from ACVP about activities of interest to allied professionals
  • Opportunities to build connections, collaborations, and networks through serving on committees (other than the Certification and Examination Council, Appeals, Nominating, and Finance)
  • Member rate for Annual Meeting registration
  • Access to free educational webinars
  • Opportunity to network with other Allied Professionals and ACVP Diplomates
  • Online access to six annual issues of Veterinary Pathology journal
  • Access to Members-Only section of website (includes webinar information, member directory, documents, salary surveys, and more)

Limitations:

  • Ineligible to serve on certifying examination related committees, i.e. the Certifying Examination Board, Appeals, and Finance.
  • Ineligible to hold office or vote on ballots being considered by Diplomate members
