Submit your interesting primate pathology case for consideration for the afternoon case presentations of the Primate Pathology Workshop at the 2026 Annual Meeting in Indianapolis. All species of non-human primates and all disease conditions will be considered, especially cases that align with the workshop theme: Neuropathology: From Spontaneous Disease to Translational Insights.

Submit cases to Katherine Olstad.

Submissions should be limited to one page and include:

  • Short title with diagnosis
  • Submitter name(s), institution, and position if trainee, veterinary student, or pathologist
  • Signalment
  • Brief history
  • Gross and histologic findings
  • Representative images, optional

Neuropathology Mystery Slide Session

Sunday, November 15, 7-9pm

Chair: Daniel Rissi, DVM MS PhD DACVP (AP)

It is time again for the annual neuropathology mystery slide case submissions!  There is no theme, so go through your archives and see what kind of cool cases you have! This is a fun and interactive session, so search your files for the classic or the bizarre, challenging, and truly unknown cases! Send your submissions to Daniel Rissi with the subject line “(your name) NPMS Case Submission” and attach the following:

  • A single PDF document with a summary of the case including your name, institution and contact information, a short history, signalment, summary of representative gross and histologic findings, any additional supporting data, and no more than 6 good quality images (histology with or without gross) that are representative of the lesion.

As always, true “unsolved mysteries” are highly encouraged!

Only 6 HE recuts will be required if your case is chosen for inclusion as all cases will be scanned and made available for everyone to review online (glass slides will be used for scanning and will be archived). The target number of case presentations for 2026 is 6.

Neuropathology cases submissions are due to Daniel Rissi by 7/1. Decisions on cases chosen for the session will be made immediately after that date. Cases submitted past the deadline cannot be accepted.

Contact Daniel Rissi with any questions.

Infectious Disease Mystery Slide Session

Monday, November 16, 7-9pm

Chair: Neel Aziz, DACVP (AP)

It is time for an infectious and contagious mystery case slide conference. Submission of interesting infectious disease cases that present challenging diagnostic work ups are highly encouraged. The intent of this session is to work through challenging infectious diseases cases that utilize anatomic pathology and other sections of the diagnostic laboratory (e.g.: clinical pathology, bacteriology, molecular) to rule in or rule out differential diagnosis. Cases from non-domestic species are highly favored. Board certified pathologists, diagnostic medicine trainees, and graduate students are all welcomed to submit cases.

Case submissions are limited to two pages and shall include:

  • Submitter’s name, institution and position
  • Case summary
    • Signalment
    • Brief history
    • Results of ancillary diagnostic testing
  • Morphologic diagnosis
  • Macroscopic and microscopic findings
  • Representative case images (e.g.: postmortem examination, histopathology)

Send your case submission as a PDF to Neel Aziz by July 1. Please use IDC ACVP 2026 as the title for the email and “ACVP2026IDC.Lastname.FirstName” as the title for your pdf file.

Integrated Clinical Pathology and Anatomic Pathology Challenges Session

Tuesday, November 17, 1:30-5pm

Chairs: Adam Harris, DVM PhD DACVP (CP);  Samantha Lee, DACVP (CP)

This session is designed to highlight the integration of clinical pathology and anatomic pathology in veterinary diagnostics through collaborative case presentations. Submitted cases will ideally be paired between a clinical pathologist and an anatomic pathologist, with each presenter contributing their specialty-specific perspective to the diagnostic workup, interpretation, and discussion of the case.

We are seeking diagnostically challenging, educational, or unique cases that demonstrate how integration of clinicopathologic data, cytology, hematology, histopathology, molecular testing, or other diagnostic modalities contributed to the final diagnosis or understanding of disease. Cases involving interdisciplinary collaboration and/or cytologic-histologic correlation will be prioritized.

Cases should emphasize the integration of clinical pathology and anatomic pathology findings and demonstrate educational value for attendees. Presentations will be limited to 7 minutes with 2 minutes for Q&A.

Trainees, graduate students, and board-certified pathologists are all encouraged to participate.

Submission should be limited to 2 pages for case history, diagnostics, findings and supporting information and include:

  • Submitter name(s), institution, and contact information
  • Signalment and brief clinical history
  • Representative clinicopathologic, gross, cytologic, and histologic findings
  • Relevant diagnostic testing and ancillary studies
  • Morphologic diagnosis and/or case summary
  • Up to 6 representative images (gross, cytology, histology, flow cytometry, molecular findings, etc.)

By 7/1: Send your complete case history and diagnostic findings and case synopsis to this folder, in an attached document named as follows: Lastname.Firstname_IntegratedPathSession.docx (or .pdf)

Selected presenters will be notified by 7/17. Additional shipping instructions and presentation details will be provided following case selection.
