Veterinary Student Poster Award

Veterinary students are encouraged to submit abstracts of their research for possible presentation at the ACVP Annual Meeting. All accepted student abstracts will be presented as posters and a small number of student abstract submitters will also be invited to present orally. Veterinary Student Breakfast

This interactive event offers students to opportunity to connect with committee pathologists, enjoy breakfast, and win prizes. During the event the committee will also celebrate various achievements by announcing the Veterinary Student Poster Awards and recognizing the Mentor of the Year.

Pathletes

“Pathletes” is a live, pub-style trivia event for veterinary students interested in pathology held annually during the Veterinary Student Breakfast. Students from veterinary schools with ACVP-recognized pathology clubs compete in teams of 2-3 people answering multiple choice questions based on gross, histologic, or cytologic images of classic veterinary diseases. Images and questions are displayed on a projector screen, and students select their answers via PollEverywhere using a smartphone or tablet. The three teams with the highest scores following a preliminary round of 20 questions proceed to the final round of 5 challenging questions. Victors receive prize medals and have their school and team name memorialized on the Student Engagement Committee website.

Students can sign up online starting in August. Links to the sign-up sheet are emailed to pathology club advisors. If only one student from a particular school is able to attend ACVP, they will be paired with one or more students from another school to form a composite team. Pathletes is a fun, interactive way for students to test their knowledge of pathology and build connections with their colleagues. Join a team, and make your school a legend!
