Case Load:

The 2022 biopsy case load was 1777, with ~95% being small/ companion animal cases. 

The 2022 necropsy case load was 809with 40% small animal, 40% large animal/food animal and 20% other (laboratory animal, poultry, wildlife/zoo). 

The 2022 cytology case load was 4130, with ~95% being small/ companion animal cases.

Additionally, there is an aquaculture diagnostic lab which provides access to fish cases. We also work closely with the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies which adds dolphin and sea turtle cases which are not reflected in the biopsy and necropsy caseloads.

Other Opportunities:
Multiple funded research opportunities are available for students interested in pursuing a graduate degree. Time is available during the second and third years to rotate through research labs that students are interested in. Time is also available to take graduate course work for those students interested in a graduate degree.
