CP | Residents receive credit for surgical biopsy and necropsy service in addition to some specialty pathology rounds |
Comments:
Residents will enroll in a graduate program through the College of Veterinary Medicine at University of Illinois. After the first year, a graduate advisory committee should be formed. Graduate-level course selection will be based on the requirements of the graduate program, residency, and graduate advisory committee. Research opportunities within the college are diverse. To see the breadth of ongoing research, it would be advisable to search through the college faculty member profiles.
Other Opportunities:
– Transition from masters to a PhD program is available pending an appropriate research mentor and funding are identified. This transition can occur while in the program and does not necessarily have to be identified from the start of the program.
– Residents are encouraged to present cases and material at meetings such as the midwest veterinary pathology meeting (MAVP), ACVP, AAVLD.
-Clin path residents participate in an annual mock examination and are encouraged to attend the Purdue bone marrow workshop at least once during their residency.
– Zoological Pathology Program residents may have opportunities, as available, for off-site rotations with collaborating conservation organizations.
