Residents are encouraged to complete externships in areas underrepresented in the local program for example at the Oregon Primate Center or a laboratory animal facility such as Charles River or IDEXX.Clinical pathology residents are encouraged and supported by the department to attend the Bone Marrow symposium offered annually.Unless otherwise employed, financial support is provided for residents between the end of their program (June 31) until completion of Phase II of the certifying examination (August).
