Comparative anatomic pathology and research track: Annual opening for a new DVM trainee; 4-year fellowship consisting of one year of 100% anatomic pathology training, followed by 3 years of NIH T32 sponsored research training; DVM PhD candidates can pursue 3 years of NIH T32 sponsored postdoctoral research training.

Anatomic pathology track: Availability varies, next opening 2025; 1-2 year fellowship, for ACVP- or ECVP-boarded or board eligible candidates; 100% pathology.

Comments
Emphasis on laboratory animal species: mice, and non human primates (old world and new world) primarily, swine, rabbits, rats, and many other species. We accept small animal (mostly dog and cat) diagnostic cases from local clinics, and exotic/zoo/aquarium diagnostic cases from the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore and the National Aquarium in Baltimore.

In addition to our twice weekly pathology rounds and weekly slide conference, required participation, trainees are encouraged to participate in laboratory animal medicine training activities, JH research seminars, and JHH pathology rounds.
