Description of Externship:

Texas A&M's Department of Veterinary Pathobiology provides a stimulating environment for veterinary student externs to learn more about pathology. The department maintains an active and dynamic pathology residency program. Externs are able to interact with pathology residents and get an appreciation for the challenges of resident life. Necropsy and biopsy case material is varied and is drawn from the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. Supplemental case material is available at the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory. Externs are encouraged to work up cases from start to finish and to attend a variety of weekly rounds and seminars. For housing, a list of TAMU veterinary students with spare bedrooms is maintained.  The cost for externs is approximately $100-150 per week.
