Description of Externship:

The position is a good one for a motivated student and offers work experience in an active GLP anatomic and clinical pathology laboratory. The student will work in association with 3 medical technologists, a histotechnologist, a histotechnician and an ACLAM/ACVP pathologist. Approximately 1100 anatomic accessions are evaluated annually (primarily nhps - 6000 in colony and 3000 misc species) and 80,000 clinical laboratory precedures performed. The emphasis is on research support, clinical diagnosis and colony health. The student will be expected to produce one publication as a result of the externship. There is ample opportunity to do clinical and research medicine (six clinical veterinarians/two are ACLAM) and be exposed to a wide variety of laboratory medicine and pathology. There are six or more other animal facilities that the student and visit and explore as desired.
